New Jersey
The North & Central New Jersey chapter of EkamUSA was founded in August 2018. The chapter supports Ekam’s mission by raising money to support Ekam’s commitment to improving maternal and infant health in rural India. In addition our youth volunteers are deeply engaged in the local New Jersey community. We actively participate in local service projects. We cook and serve meals at shelters, and raise awareness about homelessness through community events. For the past seven years, our chapter has also organized an annual 5K run to raise funds for critical health initiatives in India.
Activities
Annual 5K Run
Each year we host a 5K run in Oak Ridge Park in Clark, NJ to raise funds for Ekam USA’s mission. Our 7th annual Ekam 5K Run will be held on July 14, 2026. This year, 100% of the funds raised will support providing a safe home, essential care, and long-term support for mentally challenged underprivileged children and adults in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India.
Homeless Shelter Outreach
We raise awareness about homelessness in New Jersey and participate in various fundraisers to raise funds for homeless shelters. Ekam volunteers hosted a birthday party for kids at Homeless Solutions in Morristown.
Community Kitchen — Oasis Paterson
Ekam volunteers cook and serve meals at Oasis Paterson, supporting the local community.
