Give Food to People in Need - |
Food insecurity grew in Baton Rouge due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. A stay at home order was issued in Baton Rouge, and therefore, many people lost their jobs. Having no other source of income, people didn’t have the means to pay for food. Continuing food distribution was necessary, especially for the families that have been living paycheck to paycheck. Therefore, the EYA of Baton Rouge decided to help fundraise for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, which has served the hungry in their 11 parish service area for more than 30 years. The EYA of Baton Rouge created a Caring Crowd Project with a goal of $1533 to fund for 4500 meals, so that they can support their current clients and their increasing number of clients significantly impacted by the Corona virus. Each Baton Rouge EYA played a role in raising this money through friends and family, and together, we raised $2466, exceeding our goal of $1533, and delivered it to the food bank, providing 7500 meals for people in need. |
