A seaside town in rural India that houses predominantly fishermen folk and laborers who strive to meet their daily livelihood, awaits help for the newborn delivered in this land of uncertainty. The only medical facility in this town, that caters to the health and care of the neonates is scarcely equipped, though willing to care.
New born babies are unable to maintain their body temperature within the normal range. The health facility needs INFANT WARMERS to prevent the newborn from dying of hypothermia, the nemesis that is dreaded by health care providers. Each warmer is about $500.
Also, the facility is in need of PHOTOTHERAPY UNITS to treat babies with neonatal jaundice, that carries a high risk of morbidity and mortality in the newborn. Ignorance, illiteracy and economical havoc places the mothers of this rural region at high risk of delivering sick and preterm babies, that require intensive and long term care. Preterm babies born with jaundice need to be treated urgently to avoid long term damage to their organs. Each phototherapy unit is about $600.
Kindly reach out to them and help them to realize their hopes of making the tiny lives of this downtrodden land, survive and thrive. Your help in this testing situation, will go a long way in making a major change in the lives of the needy poor.
Ekam USA's goal is to provide rural health centers with equipment that makes life possible for sick children.
